The Pianist

A New Group
To further help the cause of classical music, I have created a group called New Voices New Doors. The purpose of this group is to produce concerts that will give a chance to the new voices of classical music to be heard and to open the door of classical music to people who not been exposed to it.
Recent Appearances

The most recent appearance happened April 9, 2008 with singer Stephanie Heidemann. We performed two songs I wrote on the poetry of Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz, some Sepharadic music, Gounod Ave Maria and my suite Moods. THis was very succesful and people enjoyed the evening very much.

The Post Taubman Tecnique

As a pianist, I have reached the conclusion that some of the things I was tought in the Taubman technique were wrong. I am very thankful that it brought me back from my injury, and certain things I will always keep, but as I have continued my own research into technique I have to say I had to discard data. If you are interested in this subject, go to my blog, where I will be posting articles on technique, correct and incorrect, for playing the piano.

WHAT AM I DOING NOW?

Practicing in Mexico in 2007

I have spent 2008 reconciling the two techniques I have learned in my life, incorporating things that Mario Feninger taught me to the Taubman technique which got me back from my injury. This has been a fascinating experience, as my technique has now become more solid and yet capable of subtle nuances, different colors and a distinct singing tone.

The two most important projects I am involved now as a pianist are getting to perform my First Piano Concerto with different orchestras and appearing in recital with a program based on the CD Almost Songs.

A third project, which is at its inception, is to make another recording. I am in the process of selecting some pieces I have already written in order to create a CD that will offer a different side of my musical personality.

Birds on a wire
But my main interest now is to bring my Almost Songs to all kinds of publics, be it the traditional classical music fan, the avant-guard music fan or to people that have not had much access to classical music in their lives but would like to hear something different.

This last category is probably the one I am most interested in as I feel that classical music has been an enormous source of joy, pleasure and even comfort in my life and I figure it can play the same role in the lives of many more people than it does now.

So I'm trying to bring my music both to traditional concert venues and to not so traditional places. If you are interested in hosting an event, you can contact me. If you want to see me in concert, go to my calendar of appearances and see where you can catch me. I hope to see you soon.
